March 2004
First purchased the car from San Francisco, CA. The
car was flawless from the outside for a vehicle with 132,000 miles on it. The only thing I was concerned with was if the car
could make the 500 mile trip back to Las Vegas, NV.

The engine burns oil after sitting at a red light
too long. At the first blip of the throttle, there would be blue smoke that would quickly go away after 1st gear.
I figured it was just old valve guides letting oil get past the valves and into the combustion chamber. While cruising around
the RPMs were high enough so that the smoke was not noticeable. The motor eats around a quart of oil every 1000 miles.
The transmission needs work also. Quick shifts
to any gear cause the syncros to grind at any RPM. The suspension is not up to stock standards either. The shocks and springs
are bottoming out at the slightest bumps.

I end up putting a deposit for Road Race Engineering
– Engine Building Service to build a new long block and transmission. I start planning some goals that I would like
to achieve in this car. Low 11’s and 120’s MPH is what I’m looking for.
November 2004
Motor, Transmission and Suspension upgrades installed
at RRE. I spend the next few months breaking in the motor and tuning the engine with DSMlink.
